By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a mostly sunny day with some cloudy spells, punctuated by isolated showers or light rain, predominantly in southern areas. Temperatures will remain warm, reaching highs of 86°F (30°C) along the coast and 89°F (32°C) inland.
Marine conditions are moderate, with E-NE winds blowing at 5-15 knots and waves reaching 4-6 feet.
Across the Atlantic, Subtropical Storm Patty is currently located approximately 125 miles southeast of Lajes Air Base in the Azores. With maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, Patty is moving eastward at 18 mph.
Closer to home, the National Meteorological Service (NMS) is closely monitoring a developing weather system in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. This disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms has a high probability of development within the next 48 hours as it tracks north to northwestward over the central and western Caribbean.
Looking ahead, Monday and Monday night are forecast to be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms.
Today’s high tides are expected at 11:26 AM and 10:26 PM, while low tide will occur at 4:32 PM. Sunrise was at 5:52 AM and sunset will be at 5:19 PM. Moonrise is at 7:39 AM and moonset at 6:51 PM.
