By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has reported fair weather conditions across the country for the next 24 hours. This forecast promises mostly sunny skies today, with partly cloudy conditions expected by tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be sparse but may develop slightly along southern coastal areas overnight, bringing minimal disruptions to Belize’s current weather stability.

Marine conditions appear calm, with light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast at 5-15 knots. The sea state is forecast to be choppy, with waves reaching heights of 3 to 5 feet. Residents along coastal areas can expect temperatures to reach highs of 87°F (31°C) during the day and lows around 76°F (24°C) tonight, while those inland will experience a bit more warmth with a daytime high of 91°F (33°C). Cooler temperatures will prevail in the hills, with a high of 76°F (24°C) and a nighttime low dipping to 65°F (18°C).

In tropical weather updates, the National Hurricane Center has indicated two active systems. Potential Tropical Cyclone 18, currently located near 14.8N / 76.8W, about 220 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica, is moving north at 7 mph, carrying sustained winds of 35 mph. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Patty, positioned approximately 490 miles east of the Azores, has shown no threat to Belize, moving east-northeast at 20 mph with winds at 40 mph.

The outlook for the next day remains promising for continued fair weather, with isolated showers or thunderstorms possible in a few areas. The Meteorological Service assures residents that tides will run normally today, with a high tide expected at 12:10 PM and a low tide following at 5:01 PM. Sunset is scheduled for 5:19 PM, and the moon will rise around 8:35 AM. Francisca Wellington, the forecaster, expects conditions to remain stable, providing a calm start to the week for Belizeans.
