By Aaron Humes: Police have detained one man following a stabbing incident in at the Philip Goldson International Airport compound in Ladyville on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:57 p.m. responding police were informed of an altercation that occurred between two airport staff members, which resulted in one of them sustaining injuries. Initial investigations revealed that 19-year-old Jovanni Ismael McKenzie and 27-year-old Darvin Sutherland, both Belizean ramp agents of the Belize District, had a misunderstanding that led to McKenzie receiving a stab wound to his face.
McKenzie was transported to receive medical attention, whilst Sutherland is in police custody.
