Police officer and three others charged in the murder of Shawn Ortiz

By Aaron Humes: In reference to the murder of Shawn Albert Ortiz Campbell, on Tuesday, November 5, police formally arrested and charged one of their own, namely Peter Perez, as well as Kyle Domingo, Gasman Jones, and Charles Brown jointly for the crime of murder.

Ortiz, from Fern Lane, Belize City, was a taxi driver who was fatally assaulted early on Monday morning.

According to police, sometime after 3:00 a.m., while Shawn Ortiz and another person were leaving after socializing at Stephen’s Place, formerly known as Radiance Cool Spot on Jaguar Street, Faber’s Road Extension, Belize City, when he and a group of male persons got into a scuffle a short distance from Stephen’s Place, and he was stabbed.

He was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 4:50 a.m.
