By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can look forward to a bright and mostly sunny day today. The forecast shows that fair and dry weather conditions will continue across the country, with only a slight chance of an isolated shower here or there. Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear with some areas experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

On the coast, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 87°F during the day, cooling to a comfortable 76°F at night. Inland areas will feel hotter, with temperatures peaking at 92°F and dropping to 70°F overnight. For those in the hills, daytime temperatures will hover around 81°F, while nighttime will bring a chill at 67°F.

Mariners can expect light and variable winds, making for calm and pleasant seas. Wave heights will remain low, between 1 to 3 feet, ensuring smooth sailing conditions.

As for tropical activity, Hurricane Rafael remains the only system of note. At 6:00 AM, it was located about 180 miles west-northwest of Havana, Cuba, moving northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. While Rafael poses no immediate threat to Belize, the system will continue to be monitored closely.

The sun will set at 5:18 PM, but not before an 11:18 AM moonrise. Moonset follows at 10:34 PM. Those looking to enjoy the sea should note today’s tide times: the high tide comes in at 3:08 PM, while low tide occurs at 8:32 AM and again at 7:08 PM. Tomorrow morning’s high tide will be at 1:31 AM.

The outlook for Friday suggests more of the same—fair skies and dry conditions as the week wraps up.
