Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow offers congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump

By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Oppositions Moses “Shyne” Barrow issued congratulations to the President-elect Donald J. Trump of the United States (US), and in doing so cited the US for “having fair, free and peaceful elections”.

Barrow said, “We wish President-elect Trump and the American people [as] well as Belize remains committed to strengthening the strong bilateral relations shared by our Nations for the last 43 years.”

Trump, representing the Republican Party, reached the majority of votes needed in the Electoral College early on Wednesday after sweeping five of seven swing states with two more still to be called; Democratic Party nominee and Vice-president Kamala Harris has conceded with the College to meet on December 17.

Barrow also also congratulated Kamala Harris stating “the Opposition and people of Belize offer congratulations to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on her historic and formidable Presidential candidacy”.
