Belize advances trade and investment opportunities in London

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Dr. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, led a successful Trade and Investment Mission to London from November 4 to 7, according to a press release by the Government of Belize Press Office.

Supported by the Belize High Commission in London and Mr. Berisford Codd, Senior Trade Economist, Dr. Martinez secured key engagements with the Commonwealth Secretariat, UK Export Finance, and private investors.

A press release by the Government of Belize Press Office said Dr. Martinez delivered a keynote address at the Commonwealth Meeting on Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism, sharing Belize’s experiences in sustainable tourism. An agreement for technical support through the Commonwealth Secretariat was reached to enhance Belize’s National Trade Policy.

The mission also marked the beginning of Belize’s engagement with UK Export Finance to explore capital investments from the UK, potentially supporting large-scale projects in Belize.

According to the press release, Dr. Martinez established relationships with investors in sectors such as renewable energy, port development, tourism, and agro-processing, aligning with Belize’s economic growth strategy.
