San Pedro murder: caretaker held after allegedly shooting maintenance worker Matthew Moses dead

By Aaron Humes: Police say they have detained one person following the fatal shooting of a man in San Pedro Town, North Ambergris Caye.

On Friday, November 8, police responded to a report at Mile 8.6, Secret Beach Subdivision, around 1:19 p.m., and discovered the motionless body of 46-year-old Matthew Jonathan Moses, a Belizean maintenance worker, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his body.

Also present at the scene was 27-year-old Samuel Bolaños, a Belizean caretaker. Initial investigations indicate an alleged ongoing disagreement between Moses and Bolaños, which led to Bolaños shooting and killing Moses with his licensed nine-millimeter pistol.

Police have confiscated Bolaños’ firearm, and the body of Matthew Jonathan Moses is pending a post-mortem examination.
