Sunny skies and warm temperatures dominate Belize forecast

By Horace Palacio: Belizeans and visitors alike can look forward to a pleasant weekend with mostly fair weather dominating the forecast. Sunny skies with a few cloudy spells are expected today, with temperatures climbing to a comfortable high of 88°F (31°C) along the coast and a slightly warmer 90°F (32°C) inland. Those venturing into the hills can expect slightly cooler temperatures, with a high of 80°F (27°C).

While the majority of the country will enjoy dry conditions, the National Meteorological Service forecasts isolated showers and thunderstorms. Residents in inland areas should be prepared for a slightly higher chance of rain this afternoon, while those in the south may experience a few showers tonight.

Seas will be calm with light and variable winds, making for excellent conditions for boaters and water enthusiasts. Waves are expected to reach only 1-3 feet.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Rafael, which formed earlier this week, continues to track west-northwest in the Gulf of Mexico. As of 3:00 am this morning, Rafael was located approximately 265 miles north-northwest of Progreso, Mexico, posing no immediate threat to Belize. The storm is moving at a leisurely 6 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph.

The generally fair weather is expected to persist into Sunday, with only isolated showers predicted.
