Man charged in Independence killing

By Aaron Humes: In reference to the death of Selvin Humes which occurred on the 7th of November 2024, on Saturday, November 9, police formally arrested and charged 22-year-old Randell Russell Montero of Independence Village for murder.

On Thursday night at about 9:00 p.m., Police responded to a stabbing near the Cemetery Area in Independence Village. One male person was stabbed and taken to the Independence Poly Clinic.

At the clinic police identified the body of Selvin Humes, 28, of Independence Village with stab wounds. Humes was transported to Southern Regional Hospital (SRH) Morgue where his body awaits a post-mortem examination.
