Belize edged 1-0 by Panama in UNCAF FIFA FORWARD Under-16 Girls Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under-16 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) lost their third match of the 2024 Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA FORWARD Under-16 Girls Championship, falling to Panama 1-0 in Managua, Nicaragua on Sunday.

This loss placed Belize in fourth place in Group A, without any points, behind Panama (9 points), El Salvador (6 points), and Nicaragua (3 points). The BGNT will now face invited guests Cuba, who similarly finished last in Group B without a point, behind Costa Rica (9 points), Honduras (4 points), and Guatemala (4 points).

The Belize vs. Cuba match for seventh place is scheduled for 9:00 am at the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua. Nicaragua will play Guatemala for fifth place at 3:00 pm. El Salvador will face Honduras for third place at 5:30 pm, while Panama will tackle Costa Rica for the regional title at 8:00 pm.

Belize lost their opening match 2-1 to Nicaragua on Wednesday, November 6, and then fell 3-0 to El Salvador on Friday, November 8.

In the final matches on Sunday, El Salvador defeated Nicaragua 5-0, Honduras pounded Cuba 6-0, and Costa Rica blanked Guatemala 3-0.

Wednesday, November 6, 2024: Nicaragua 2-1 Belize at 5:30 pm
Friday, November 8, 2024: Belize 0-3 El Salvador at 8:00 pm
Sunday, November 10, 2024: Panama 1-0 Belize at 8:00 pm
Tuesday, November 12, 2024: Belize vs. Cuba at 9:00 am (7th Place)
