By Rubén Morales Iglesias: New controlled prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as ‘butane’, will fall by five cents on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Despite the five-cent drop, LPG is still 27 cents higher than in September as the commodity went up by 32 cents in October.
Retail prices throughout Belize will now be $5.61 per gallon in urban areas and $5.71 in rural areas. The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise announced on Monday that the new prices result primarily from a decrease in the acquisition price of both butane and propane.
“This change now reflects the sale by wholesale volume and retail sale by volume in both urban and rural areas,” the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) said as it normally does when announcing a price fluctuation.
The SCU stated that the prices established for imported LPG are based on the mixtures of 70:30 (Propane: Butane) as required by the Belize National Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) BZS 21:2012.
The SCU mentioned that queries can be directed to the Supplies Control Unit at 828-5018, 828-5090, or via email at [email protected].
The price structure covers sales by wholesale volume as well as retail sales in both urban and rural regions of the country.
A unified price has been set for import wholesale across all districts at BZ$4.01 per gallon. That’s five cents less than October ($4.06) and 15 cents more than September ($3.86).
