Opposition demands ‘call the general elections now’ after budget line item revealed

Senator and United Democratic Party chairman Michael Peyrefitte says if there is, the Government should reveal it, if the line item for the supplementary appropriation asked for by the Government is true – $343,787 approved for the Elections and Boundaries Department.

Apart from that, Peyrefitte panned the remaining $106 million asked for in supplementary by the Government to make repayments owed for 2023-2024 and to ask for future funding for 2024-2025. He reminded the Senate that, in the aftermath of COVID, the Government got a ‘bly’ for the first Budget, but they have had three more since and even now, there is “bad planning” and “miscalculation” of funds to be used, and in any other business, the economic guru would be fired.

Peyrefitte also reminded that “Belizean people do not respond to arrogant people in power, they love to vote out.”
