San Jose Pumas, San Estevan, Galácticos, Yo Creek win 1st Leg of OWFA Amateur Tournament Quarterfinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The first leg of the Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) Amateur Tournament Quarterfinals kicked off on Sunday, November 10 at Louisiana Football Field, with San Jose Pumas, San Estevan Soccer Team, Galácticos, and Yo Creek United emerging victorious.

San Jose Pumas displayed a strong performance with Victor Novelo scoring early in the 16^th minute, followed by Israel Diaz who added two more goals at the 17^th and 75^th minutes. Crystal FC managed to score a goal through Jael Ottley but couldn’t bridge the gap.

San Estevan Soccer Team dominated their match against Trial Farm Legends with a 6-1 victory. Romario Ramirez scored a brace in the 63’ and 77’ to lead San Estevan. Hadid Torres opened the scoring in the 2^nd minute and added another in the 38^th minute. Romario Ramirez also scored a brace in the 63’ and 77’. Miguel Pren (7’) and Diego Chan (46’) also contributed to the scoreline. Nazim Aldana netted the only goal for Trial Farm Legends in the 55^th minute.

Galácticos edged out Mi Gente of Guinea Grass with a 2-1 win. Giovanni Ramirez (31’) and Raheim Herbert (82’) scored for Galácticos, while Nestor Heredia scored a penalty for Mi Gente in the 80^th minute.

In the fourth match, Yo Creek United claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Progresso FC. Brian Coh scored in the 63^rd minute and Jacobs Dominguez secured the win with a goal in the fifth minute of injury time. Francisco Rivas managed to score for Progresso FC in the 69^th minute but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

The victories by these teams have set the stage for an exciting second leg, scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk.

The upcoming return matches are anticipated to be thrilling as teams will fight for their place in the semifinals.
