By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Early Sunday morning, thieves broke into the classroom buildings at Bishop Martin RC School in San Ignacio and stole 17 projectors and a PA system.
The thieves also took computers and cash.
The school’s surveillance video captured 3 people running away from the office around 2 am on Sunday.
During an interview with 7News Belize, Principal Abimael Waight says that the school has a projector for each class.
“We felt that we were left here to start all over again, from the beginning. But I remain optimistic that we are going to get information, we’re going to get back to our things and we know that there are very kind-hearted people out there that are going to provide us a little lending hand.
It very much saddens me that we have people doing this in schools. Teachers, parents, and students here at Bishop Martin have been working very hard to fundraise for items that went missing such as projectors. We had our PA system and wireless microphones, we even had some money that was already allocated for Children’s Day. All of that they took the total value of around $11,000 that went missing. We asking again for the assistance of the general public or any person who hears or knows something to give us assistance,” Principal Waight said.
He is urging the public to assist with providing any information they may have to recover the stolen items.
