By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In the wake of Tropical Storm Sara, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in partnership with the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry and with assistance from the Belize City Council and the City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO), organized a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) training session at City Hall, Belize City.

The goal of this training session was to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with effective strategies and practical plans to improve disaster preparedness and ensure business continuity during potential threats or recovery periods post-disaster. This initiative is part of NEMO’s efforts to strengthen the business community’s resilience in Belize against natural disasters and other emergencies.

Participants received crucial insights and tools to formulate comprehensive business continuity plans, ensuring they can maintain operations and recover quickly from disruptions. The collaboration between NEMO, the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Belize City Council, and CEMO demonstrates a united effort to enhance disaster preparedness and foster a more resilient economic environment in Belize.

This proactive measure is seen as vital for mitigating the effects of future storms and natural disasters, protecting livelihoods, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
