PLB Semifinals: Verdes tackle San Pedro Pirates in Benque Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) is set for a thrilling weekend as the second leg of the semifinals feature league-leading Verdes and fourth-seeded San Pedro Pirates ready to battle on Saturday night for a spot in the finals.

Verdes will host the San Pedro Pirates at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Saturday, November 23, at 7:30 pm. This encounter promises to be a high-octane clash, with both teams eager to secure their place in the finals after a closely contested first leg that ended in a 1-1 draw at Ambergris Stadium.

In that first match, Aldin Forman put the Pirates ahead in the 27^th minute, but Verdes’ Desmond Wade, their hottest player over the last few games, equalized in the 67^th minute, setting the stage for a highly anticipated second leg.

Meanwhile, defending champions Port Layola will face Progresso at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City on Sunday, November 24, at 4:00 pm. Port Layola holds a significant advantage after securing a 4-2 victory in the first leg, but Progresso will be looking to overturn the deficit and advance to the finals.
