Brothers Saldano remanded for threatening policeman

By Aaron Humes: Edward “Scrubboard” and Damion Saldano are back at the Central Prison in Hattieville after being charged with aggravated assault of a police officer jointly and escape by Edward.

Edward Saldano on Monday was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on Constable Briceno Shal and escape from lawful custody, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied and he was remanded until January 8, 2025.

On Wednesday, Damion was read his charge and initially tried to plead guilty, then claimed the officer fabricated the story and alleged he wanted to withdraw the charge.

Shal was called to the court but did not appear and then Damion changed tack, asking for a sentencing indication should he choose to plead guilty. When told he was facing at least three years imprisonment, he insisted he didn’t do it and would not go back to jail for something he didn’t do, and so pleaded not guilty. He was remanded as well until January 8, despite claiming he and his brother were being targeted.

The brothers are accused of threatening Shal on November 21, after Edward escaped from a police station.
