By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) rebuilt a home for a family of 17, providing them with a secure and comfortable place to live.
The MIDH said the family, who lost their home to Hurricane Lisa in November 2022, had their home rebuilt under an ongoing housing initiative by the Government of Belize.
According to the MIDH, during the handover ceremony, there were heartfelt moments as family members expressed their profound gratitude.
“The newly constructed home represents more than just shelter; it symbolizes a fresh start and a sense of security for the family,” the MIDH said in a statement.
“After enduring the hardship of losing their home and possessions, they can rest assured knowing they have a sturdy roof over their heads.”
The MIDH emphasized the government’s dedication to aiding families affected by disasters and stressed the importance of community resilience. The family conveyed their heartfelt thanks, sharing how their new home will transform their lives.
The MIDH continues to work towards rebuilding and strengthening communities throughout Belize as part of the Government of Belize’s commitment to help families in need and ensure safe, adequate housing for them.
