Revised Commencement date for Trade License Act No.19 of 2024

The general public is hereby notified that subject to the decision of Cabinet at its of meeting of Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the new commencement date for the enactment of the Trade License Act. No. 19 of 2024 is October 1, 2025.

Persons and/firms conducting or intending to conduct a trade within towns and cities are advised that the provisions of the Trade Licensing Act, Chapter 66 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2020 continues to be the applicable piece of legislation for the administration of trade licensing. Persons and/firms are advised to contact the Secretariat for trade licensing within the respective municipal council offices for further guidance, support and more information regarding trade licensing for the upcoming licensing period, January 1 to December 31, 2025.

Persons and/firms in rural areas, including Caye Caulker, are advised that there’s no obligation nor requirement to apply for a trade license for the upcoming licensing period for the conduct of a trade.
