Fu We Transport refutes ‘false’ media claims and condemns violence against enforcement officers

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today, Fu We Transport Service issued a statement saying that it is aware of recent media reports alleging that one of their buses operated under improper conditions, including claims of being unlicensed, uninsured, and carrying standing passengers.

“We categorically reject these allegations as false, misleading, and without merit.

First and foremost, we wish to clarify that there was no checkpoint established by the Belize City Council Traffic Department involving our bus, as claimed in these reports. All our buses, are fully licensed, insured, and operate in strict compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The specific bus in question, which had been rented for operational purposes, meets all legal requirements and adheres to regulations set forth by the relevant authorities,” the statement said.

Fu We transport said that the allegations are inaccurate and that there were no standing passengers onboard during the interaction with the traffic officer, as claimed.

“We would also like to address the unfortunate altercation between a traffic officer and one of our passengers, which has been linked to this incident in media reports. Fu We Transport Service strongly condemns any form of violence, especially against enforcement officers. This incident is deeply regrettable, and we empathize with both the traffic officer and the passenger involved, recognizing the distress this situation has caused all parties. Our commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment for passengers, drivers, and conductors remains unwavering,” the statement added.

In addition, the transport service says that the reports by the media is “incomplete.”

The transport service says they will pursue legal action against the media outlets responsible.
