By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On November 28, 2024, the Ministry of National Defense and Border Security celebrated two significant milestones, the 19th anniversary of the Belize Coast Guard and the opening of a new station in Big Creek, Stann Creek District.

The new facility consists of an operations and administration headquarters, a logistics building for support services, and a third building designed to house Coast Guard personnel while on duty.

The station improves response times and enhances security for Belize’s southern waters.

The Belize Coast Guard is crucial in safeguarding the nation’s maritime borders, protecting natural resources, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
