By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 25-year-old mother of two, Destiny Allen of Zacaranda Street, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with theft and using threatening words.
Allen appeared unrepresented in Court #7 on Thursday, where she faced two charges: the theft of a black and red iPhone 14 Pro Max valued at $1,300, and using threatening words towards a police constable. Allegedly, while detained at Queen Street Police Station for the theft allegations, Allen threatened the officer, saying, “Watch it, b. I wah kill you. F*** with me, you b****.”
Allen pleaded not guilty to the theft charge and initially pleaded guilty to using threatening words. However, after the Magistrate questioned whether she understood the proceedings and advised her to seek legal counsel, her guilty plea was withdrawn.
The court granted Allen bail of $1,500 with one surety, but she was unable to meet the bail conditions and was remanded until January 10, 2024.
During her arraignment, Allen claimed she was intoxicated at the time of the alleged theft and denied stealing the phone, stating it belonged to a relative and had already been returned to its owner.
