Masked men hold couple at gunpoint, escape with $3,500 motorcycle

By Horace Palacio: A Guatemalan man and his wife were held at gunpoint and robbed of their motorcycle while traveling on Mollejon Road on Monday afternoon. The couple, returning from a visit with relatives in Arenal Village, Cayo, reported the incident to police shortly after the ordeal.

The victim, a 28-year-old Guatemalan construction worker, said he and his wife were riding their 125cc 2019 Meliun motorcycle when two masked men emerged from roadside bushes. One suspect, described as wearing a black mask and dark clothing, pointed a firearm at them, demanding they stop. The robbers ordered the couple to dismount, took the motorcycle, and instructed them to look away.

The motorcycle, valued at $3,500 Belizean dollars, has the license plate OWM-1718 and VIN# LF3PCJ7A1KB000110. The incident took place around 2 p.m. near a garbage site along Mollejon Road. The police have recorded statements from the victims but have yet to identify the suspects.

Residents of the area are advised to exercise caution while traveling in remote locations, as investigations into the robbery continue.
