By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Technical officers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) and the Department of Cooperatives are enhancing their skills this week as they participate in a one-week Agricultural Drone Pilotage Training Course at the Corozal ITVet. This initiative is facilitated by the Office of the Prime Minister and Investment, in collaboration with Mexican experts.
The goal of the training is to empower participants, including local farmers, with the expertise to operate agricultural drones efficiently.
“These drones will play a critical role in modernizing farming practices, improving efficiency, and boosting agricultural productivity across the country,” MAFSE said in a statement.
“The initiative underscores the Government of Belize’s commitment to advancing technology in agriculture for sustainable development.”
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Mexican experts conducting the training bring a wealth of experience in drone technology and its agricultural applications. During the course, participants will learn essential operational techniques, safety protocols, and how to integrate drone data into everyday farming practices.
By directly involving technical officers and cooperative staff, the training aims to ensure that innovative solutions and technical knowledge are effectively disseminated to improve productivity and livelihoods across the agricultural sector.
