By Aaron Humes: A Belize City man has pleaded not guilty to burglary despite allegedly being caught red-handed inside the High Court Library, the top floor of the Court of Appeal Building next to the main High Court office on Treasury Lane, late on December 2.
37-year-old Kelvin Elvis Dickson wanted to explain what he was doing, but the sitting Magistrate said he would be heard at trial.
Dickson was set bail of $3,000 and a surety or two equal sureties but was remanded because he owed the court $955 dating back to 2014 which he was unable to pay forthwith.
When Dickson makes bail, he must attend all court adjournments, avoid contact with witnesses in the case, and avoid arrest on similar offenses to avoid bail revocation. He returns to court on January 22, 2025.
Dickson is accused of entering the premises as a trespasser with intent to steal, but he was apprehended before he could do so by a Ranger security guard.
