By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Thursday, December 5.
At a ceremony, held to mark this significant milestone, keynote speaker Ministry of Agriculture Chief Executive Officer Servulo Baeza, stressed the institute’s crucial role in Belize’s agricultural development over the past 40 years.
According to a brief statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), CEO Baeza underscored the significant impact CARDI has had on agricultural research and development in Belize. He praised the institute’s contributions, particularly in advancing the cultivation of key commodities such as hot pepper, rice, and beans. Baeza congratulated CARDI on reaching its 50th anniversary and expressed his hope for their continued presence and influence in Belize.
The event celebrated not only CARDI’s past achievements but also looked forward to its ongoing commitment to fostering agricultural innovation and growth in the region.
