San Jose Pumas, San Estevan set for decisive return matches in OWFA Semifinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) Amateur Championship Semifinals are heating up as San Jose Pumas and San Estevan Soccer Team prepare for their crucial return matches on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Louisiana Football Field.

The stage is now set for the second leg of the semifinals. In the first match, San Estevan Soccer Team will kick off against Yo Creek United at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The second game will pit Mi Gente of Guinea Grass against San Jose Pumas, starting at 5:00 pm on the same day.

In the first leg of the semifinals, held on December 1, 2024, San Jose Pumas edged out Mi Gente with a 2-1 victory. Brandon Amaya was the star for the Pumas, scoring twice in the 45^th and 75^th minutes. Mi Gente’s Deimar Narvallez managed to find the net in the 66^th minute, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

The second match of the day saw San Estevan Soccer Team triumph in a thrilling 4-3 encounter against Yo Creek United. Aldair Chan opened the scoring for San Estevan in the 13^th minute, followed by goals from Hadid Torres, Miguel Pren, and a last-minute strike by Jodi Ramirez. Yo Creek United fought back with goals from Leonardo Canul and a brace from Amilcar Alamilla, but ultimately fell short.

The winners of these matches will advance to the OWFA Final, bringing them one step closer to the championship title.
