By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize reports that a strong cold front is advancing toward the country, bringing a shift to moist and unstable weather conditions.

Today’s forecast calls for predominantly cloudy skies with occasional sunny breaks in the morning. Coastal and offshore areas will see showers and isolated thunderstorms early in the day, followed by widespread rainfall and thunderstorms as the cold front moves across the nation.

Marine conditions reflect moderate north to northeast winds at 10-15 knots, creating choppy seas with waves between 3-5 feet. Temperatures are expected to reach 82°F along the coast during the day, dropping to 72°F overnight. Inland areas will be slightly warmer at 84°F during the day, cooling to 68°F at night, while the hills will range between 70°F and 65°F.

The outlook for Thursday and Thursday night suggests continued cold, gusty, and cloudy conditions. Southern and coastal areas will experience the brunt of the showers, thunderstorms, and occasional rain associated with the lingering effects of the front.

High tide is at 6:57 AM and 6:22 PM today, with low tides occurring at 12:14 PM and 1:45 AM tomorrow. Sunrise is at 6:13 AM, while sunset follows at 5:19 PM. The moon will rise this afternoon at 2:08 PM and set tomorrow morning at 3:17 AM.

The National Meteorological Service advises residents to stay informed and take precautions as this weather system moves through.
