Intruder found dead at Tobacco Caye Reef ‘N Lodge Cabanas

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a reported burglary and manslaughter case at the Reef ‘N Lodge Cabanas on Tobacco Caye earlier this morning.

Just after three this morning, Dangriga Police received a phone call from a woman who identified herself as the manager of Reef ‘N Lodge Cabanas. She reported that she was alerted by her workers that they had found a man lying face down and appearing to be unconscious near one of the cabanas. They picked him up and moved him to a less hazardous area where they tried to revive him.

Additional information from the manager is that sometime between 2:15 and 2:30 a.m., two tourists were asleep in Cabana #1 when they were awakened by the sound of someone moving in the room. One of the tourists saw a dark-skinned man who appeared to be in his 20s going through his personal belongings.

There was a physical altercation and the intruder was eventually thrown over a balcony in the cabana that overlooks the sea.
