Labour Force Survey: Unemployment down to 2.1 percent

By Aaron Humes: 2.1 percent of Belizeans are currently unemployed per the September round of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).

An unemployed person does not currently have a job, has been looking for one in the past four weeks but available to start working in the next two weeks.

1.4 percent of males and 3.1 percent of females are unemployed. Employed persons worked nearly 40 hours per week and made more than $1,500 per month.

More than 3,000 workers left the labour Force and there was a reduction in the number of informally employed persons (those self-employed and otherwise not contributing Social Security payments).
