By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Texas financial officer vacationing in Belize is out on $10,000 bail after being charged in connection with the death of his fiancée, Jennifer Dawn Hernandez, 40. The tragic incident occurred on Friday, December 6, 2024, on Secret Beach Road, San Pedro Town.
Isaac Jeremy Flores, 39, was allegedly driving a red Club Car golf cart with his fiancée as a passenger when the vehicle hit a bump, causing Hernandez to fall and sustain fatal injuries. Flores was subsequently charged with four traffic offenses: causing death by careless conduct, reckless driving, driving without due care and attention, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Appearing in the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court on Monday, December 9, 2024, Flores was represented by renowned attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley. Prosecutors opposed bail, arguing that Flores posed a flight risk and that police evidence against him was strong. However, Bradley successfully persuaded Magistrate Tehru-Ann Brown to grant bail under the condition that Flores provides Belizean sureties.
Bradley acted quickly to secure Flores’ release, allowing him to remain free while awaiting trial. Police allege that alcohol consumption may have been a factor in the incident, although this remains unconfirmed.
Speaking briefly to the press before boarding a flight back to San Pedro, Flores expressed his grief and noted that he has yet to contact Hernandez’s family in the U.S. to assist with funeral arrangements. The couple was among a group of 24 tourists visiting Belize.
Flores is scheduled to return to court in the coming weeks as the investigation continues.
