By Breaking Belize News Staff: Michael Flowers, a Ladyville resident who was charged with the 2022 rape of an underage girl after leaving the Eruption Nightclub, has been given a trial date for his case, which will begin on February 10, 2025.
Flowers appeared in court late Thursday evening for case management and was represented by attorney Ronell Gonzalez.
The incident occurred on the night of Friday, October 21, 2022 a nearby distance outside the Eruption Nightclub. According to police investigation, the 17-year-old victim attended a wake on the Philip Gilson Highway and then later left with a female friend to Eruption. She reported that shortly after arriving to the club, she lost consciousness and woke up in the morning in a vehicle in her underwear.
Concerned neighbors had alerted police hours earlier after noticing a man in the area with the minor. Surveillance footage and a medical examination of the girl led police to identify Flowers and his subsequent arrest. Flowers has been out on $10,000 bail since 2022.
In the aftermath of the rape, the owners of Eruption Nightclub were also arrested and charged with admitting a minor into their club.
