Government has spent $25 million on grocery bags for over 300,000 Belizeans over past 4 years

By Aaron Humes: According to Minister of Human Development Dolores Balderamos Garcia, more than 300,000 persons have gotten grocery bags over the past four years at a cost of $25 million.

There is no new specific process to obtain them, she told Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow during the Questions to Ministers period, and 8,000 are distributed monthly with emphasis on the most vulnerable. 

She noted, however, that this is only one strategy for turning back poverty and pointed to many of the Government’s achievements with increasing wages and lowering unemployment.
