By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Council has announced extended holiday hours for the Michael Finnegan Market, the main market in Belize City, to accommodate the bustling holiday season.
From Tuesday, December 17 to Saturday, December 21, 2024, the market will be open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, providing ample time for residents to complete their holiday shopping.
On Sunday, December 22, the market will operate from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The extended hours will resume from Monday, December 23 to Tuesday, December 24, with the market again open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.
However, the market will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, and Thursday, December 26, 2024, in observance of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. This closure allows vendors and shoppers alike to enjoy the festive holidays with their families.
The Michael Finnegan Market, located on West Collet Canal Street, is a vital hub for fresh produce, local goods, and holiday essentials. The extended hours are expected to ease the holiday rush and provide a more convenient shopping experience for the community.
