Doctor investigated for allegedly drugging colleague

By Aaron Humes: A Venezuelan-born male nurse has accused a colleague originally from Nicaragua, a doctor, of drugging him while they were out on the town a few weeks ago.

A police report states that the nurse went to Little John’s Corner in Belize City along with his friend Carlos Alberto Saborio Coze, 50, a Nicaraguan Doctor working in Belize, who he had known for several years. While at the establishment they were consuming alcoholic beverages, and he got up to go to the restroom, leaving his drink in front of Carlos. Upon returning a few minutes later, he continued drinking his beverage.

The last thing he claims he remembered was getting inside Carlos’ vehicle, when he woke up it was Monday, December 2, at least 24 hours later, and he had no memory of how he had gotten home, nor what happened upon leaving Little John’s. An investigation was conducted where video footage was viewed from Little John’s. This revealed a male person fitting the description of Carlos who was seen pouring an unknown substance inside his cup while he was in the bathroom.

A medical examination was conducted and no sign of sexual assault was observed. A blood sample was collected at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and submitted to National Forensic Science Services. Carlos Alberto Saborio Coze was detained on December 17 and his house was searched as well as his locker at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where nothing incriminating was found.
