By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a significant step towards empowering local communities, 133 residents from various villages within the Cayo South constituency have received their purchase approvals for parcels of land. This initiative, a joint effort by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, is poised to transform lives by facilitating first-time landownership.
The Government of Belize Press Office announced that these residents are on the cusp of becoming proud landowners. Once they complete the payment of the full purchase price, they will join the ranks of those who have realized the dream of owning a piece of land. This development is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to provide secure and affordable housing opportunities for all Belizeans.
“This group of residents now joins last year’s 120+ recipients who will become the new Bay Leaf Palm Estates Community in Armenia Village, Cayo District,” the GOB Press Office said in a statement post on social media.
The collaboration between the MIDH and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining highlights the government’s holistic approach to addressing housing and landownership challenges.
