Under 20 Belize Men’s National Team Goalkeeper Carlos Palacios seeks community support to help finance education in US

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Carlos Palacios, a talented goalkeeper for the Under 20 Belize Men’s National Football Team, is reaching out to the Belizean community for support as he prepares to further his education in the United States. Despite earning a scholarship to Otero College, a National Junior College Athletic Association community college, in La Junta, Colorado, Palacios still faces financial challenges and is appealing to the football community and beyond for assistance.

Palacios, 19, who currently resides in Dangriga, has been a standout player on the U20 Belize Men’s National Team and has also been called to the senior national team. He also plays for Premier League of Belize Champions Port Loyola FC. The young athlete’s dedication to his sport and education is evident, but he needs additional funds to cover various expenses related to his upcoming studies.

“I am currently working on some funds to go to the United States,” Palacios stated. “I got a scholarship at Otero College, but I have a couple of things I need to pay for. I’m trying to raise US$2,500.”

Despite these financial hurdles, Palacios remains committed to his educational goals. He has already secured his visa and plans to major in Criminal Justice.

“I’m committed to Otero College and I’m going for January. I just need a little financial support,” he added.

Palacios, who previously played for Wagiya Sporting Club and studied at Stann Creek Ecumenical High School, hopes to inspire others through his journey. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of community support.
