By Breaking Belize News Staff: In the early hours of Sunday, December 22, 2024, police detained two men at the Palotti Bus Stop in Belize City after discovering a 3 1/4-inch metal crack pipe. The men were identified as 37-year-old James Reyes, a construction worker of Pitters Street, and 52-year-old Lincoln Miguel, a maintenance worker from Ladyville.

During a routine mobile patrol at around 2:30 a.m., officers noticed the two men at the bus stop and observed Reyes attempting to dispose of an object. Upon inspection, the item was confirmed to be a crack pipe.

Both men were taken into custody and jointly charged with possession of utensils used for smoking controlled drugs. However, in court, Reyes took responsibility for the pipe and pleaded guilty, while Miguel pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution subsequently withdrew the charge against Miguel, allowing him to walk free. Reyes, on the other hand, was fined $75 plus a $5 court fee, which he must pay by January 31, 2025, or face three weeks of imprisonment.
