By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Men’s Junior/Youth category is set for a thrilling competition in the 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Notably, Tyler Tejeda, the two-time Junior winner from Team Valvoline, will not compete in the Junior Category this year as he moves up to the Under 23 category and will be pairing up against the Elites and Masters.
This year’s race saw Tejeda clock an impressive 2:30:21 seconds, narrowly beating G-Flow’s Devin Major and Jaylen Briceño to the finish line. With Tejeda now competing in a different category, the Junior/Youth race presents a new opportunity for emerging talents to shine, with Briceño being the most prominent rider to watch.
The Men’s Junior/Youth race, organized by KREM Radio in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI), will start at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Town Hall in Orange Walk Town. Cyclists will travel a 54-mile route along the Philip Goldson Highway, finishing in Belize City in front of Super Store on Central American Blvd.
As the young cyclists prepare for the 2025 race, they aim to deliver exceptional performances and strive for victory in this prestigious event.
