By Horace Palacio: The Belize Meteorological Service reports a mixed weather forecast for today, December 29, 2024, with mainly fair conditions in the morning giving way to increased shower activity by the afternoon and evening. Early in the day, Belizeans can expect sunny skies with cloudy intervals and only isolated showers. However, as the day progresses, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated, particularly over inland and northern areas. By tonight, this activity will spread across most regions.

Marine conditions remain calm, with light east-northeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots and a sea state described as a light chop. Wave heights are forecasted at 2 to 4 feet, providing generally favorable conditions for marine activities.

Temperatures will be warm throughout the country. Coastal areas will see highs of 84°F (29°C) and lows of 77°F (25°C), while inland regions will experience daytime highs of 88°F (31°C), cooling to 72°F (22°C) at night. In the hills, temperatures will range from 76°F (24°C) during the day to 68°F (20°C) overnight.

Looking ahead, Monday and Monday night will bring cloudy skies at times, with showers and isolated thunderstorms expected over central and southern areas, particularly in the morning and early afternoon. As the day progresses, rainfall activity is predicted to decrease, becoming isolated by the evening.

Tidal changes today include a high tide at 9:49 AM and a low tide at 2:26 PM. Tomorrow morning, the low tide will occur at 4:16 AM, with a high tide at 8:38 PM. Sunrise today is at 6:22 AM, and sunset will be at 5:28 PM. The moon is set to rise at 7:08 AM tomorrow, following its set today at 4:22 PM.

Forecaster Crystal Rosalez advises residents to prepare for shifting weather conditions, particularly this afternoon and tonight. Those in inland and northern regions should remain alert for thunderstorms, while coastal and marine activities are expected to proceed with minimal disruption.
