By Horace Palacio: Two police officers are being praised for their bravery after saving four children trapped inside a burning building during a devastating fire on Sea Star Street in San Pedro early Sunday morning.
The blaze, which destroyed two apartment buildings and a metal-framed garage, left extensive damage but could have been far worse if not for the quick actions of Police Constables Robateau and Bradley. The officers risked their lives by running into the burning structure to rescue the children, who were asleep at the time.
Despite thick smoke and intense flames, the officers successfully evacuated all four children, ensuring their safety while their parents were reportedly absent from the scene.
The fire caused widespread destruction, consuming buildings and vehicles, but no injuries were reported. The actions of the officers have drawn widespread praise from the community for their heroism and selflessness.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, with arson remaining a possibility. Meanwhile, the San Pedro community is calling for the officers to be formally recognized for their life-saving efforts, which averted what could have been a tragic loss of life.
