American Mary Joyce Monton wins Women’s Category race in 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: American Mary Joyce Monton of Blazers claimed victory in the 54-mile Women’s Category race of the 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

With Kaya Cattouse not riding, Monton, who was second in 2024, controlled the Orange Walk-to-Belize City  race along with Francine Gigli of the Lovell Cycling Team. Only five cyclists signed up for the race, which was organized by KREM Radio in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Norma Nunez finished in third place.

Gabrielle Lovell of the Lovell Cycling Team and Celina Baldera of the Imani Cycling Team did not complete the race.
