By Breaking Belize News Staff: 22-year-old Egbert Vince Gill, a resident of Santa Barbara Street, is out on bail after being arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday evening on a charge of aggravated assault with a knife. Gill, a laborer, is accused of assaulting another man with a dangerous instrument, specifically a knife.

Appearing unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola, Gill pleaded not guilty to the charges. With no objections raised by the prosecution, he was granted bail in the sum of $1,500, plus one surety of the same amount, which he met.

As part of his bail conditions, Gill is prohibited from contacting the virtual complainant or any of his family members. He is also instructed not to be arrested or charged with any other offenses while out on bail, or his bail will be revoked. His next court date is set for February 28, 2025.
