Cold front brings rainy conditions to Belize

By Horace Palacio: A cold front is influencing Belize’s weather today, January 7, 2025, bringing cloudy skies and increased rainfall activity. According to the Belize Meteorological Service, a few showers and periods of rain are expected, primarily over central and southern areas. These conditions are set to persist throughout the day and into the night.

Marine conditions remain relatively calm despite the weather system, with light north-northeast winds blowing at 5-10 knots. The sea state is described as a light chop, with wave heights ranging between 2 to 4 feet. These conditions are favorable for marine activities, though caution is advised due to occasional rain.

Temperatures will be seasonally cool, with coastal areas experiencing highs of 82°F (27°C) and nighttime lows of 72°F (22°C). Inland regions will peak at 83°F (28°C) during the day and drop to 67°F (19°C) overnight. In the hills, daytime highs will reach 72°F (22°C), cooling to 61°F (16°C) at night.

Looking ahead to Wednesday and Wednesday night, the cold front’s influence will continue to bring a few showers or periods of rain, concentrated along the coast and southern areas.

The tidal schedule for today includes a low tide at 9:38 AM, a high tide at 3:48 PM, and another low tide at 11:18 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is expected at 5:30 AM. Sunrise occurred at 6:24 AM, with sunset scheduled for 5:33 PM. The moon will rise at 12:05 PM today and set at 1:08 AM tomorrow.
