By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating how a mislaid bank card was used to obtain more than $2,000 in purchases.
According to a resident of Belize City, on January 7 about 9:00 a.m., he was looking for his Belize Bank debit card which he thought was inside his vehicle, but was nowhere to be found. He then visited the Belize Bank Limited’s Albert Street (Market Square) Branch to cancel the bank card.
The bank provided him with a bank statement which showed that several transactions were done without his consent and authorization for the months of November and December in various places within Belize City for the amount of $2,170.
The matter remains under investigation.
