By Aaron Humes: They didn’t get anything, but two men brazenly tried to break into the Phillip Goldson International Airport Terminal Cargo Warehouse over the weekend. One of the intruders fired a shot at the security guard.
The confrontation began when two on-duty security guards saw the men in the compound and shouted at them to leave. They heard a gunshot and took cover, then set out after the burglars, who escaped through a breach in the chain-link fence on the south end of the compound, which faces the airport runway.
Police say they have reviewed the surveillance footage to try and establish the identity of these two persons. It follows a similar event in September of 2023. Investigations continue.
