By Horace Palacio: Belize will experience mostly fair weather for much of today with partly cloudy skies and little to no rain expected in the morning. However, the Belize Meteorological Service reports that cloudy spells will develop this afternoon, bringing an increase in showers and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected to begin inland and spread to most areas by tonight.
Marine conditions will remain moderate, with east-southeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots. Wave heights are forecasted at 4-6 feet, so caution is advised for marine operators, particularly as conditions may change with the onset of evening showers.
Temperatures will be warm and comfortable. Coastal areas will see daytime highs of 85°F (29°C) and nighttime lows of 75°F (24°C). Inland regions will reach highs of 89°F (32°C) and drop to 67°F (19°C) overnight. In the hills, temperatures will peak at 78°F (26°C) and fall to 61°F (16°C).
Looking ahead to Monday and Monday night, isolated showers are expected in the morning and evening, with a few more likely during the afternoon, continuing the pattern of increased rainfall activity.
Today’s tidal schedule includes a low tide at 7:52 AM, a high tide at 1:38 PM, another low tide at 8:20 PM, and a high tide early tomorrow morning at 1:53 AM. Sunrise occurred at 6:26 AM, and sunset is expected at 5:40 PM. The moon set at 10:13 AM and will rise again at 10:45 PM tonight.
Forecaster Francisca Wellington advises residents and visitors to plan their outdoor activities early in the day and prepare for potential rainfall and thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening.
