By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 2024-2025 Premier League of Belize Closing Championship kicked off with a historic match as the San Pedro Pirates, under the guidance of the league’s first woman head coach, Ada Abigail Cordova, secured a resounding 4-1 victory against Wagiya at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro on Saturday, January 18.

The Pirates set the tone for the game early on, with Gabriel Ramos, Jr. scoring in the 13th minute. While Wagiya’s Raheem Thomas managed to equalize in the 39th minute, the second half saw a tremendous surge from the Pirates. Jaheim Mena struck twice, in the 65th and 90’+2, while Keydenshaay Bowen sealed the victory in the 90’+3.

This victory not only marks a significant achievement for Coach Cordova but also positions the San Pedro Pirates as strong contenders for the championship.
