By Aaron Humes: According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, investigations of the double homicide of Felix Martinez and Adelita Gillett never suggested a murder/suicide as initially widely reported.

The pair were found shot dead in a red Chevrolet Equinox on the Philip Goldson Highway near the Crooked Tree junction.

In an official statement on social media Williams said, “From our investigation, this is clearly a case of double murder and is being treated as such. So far we have one suspect in custody who is being interviewed by the police. This person had some financial issue with the victims and so we are exploring that angle as well as other possibilities. There is also nothing indicating that the victims were involved in any criminal activities.”

The Commissioner, on behalf of the Belize Police Department, hereby urges the public to please share any information you may have that could assist in solving these latest murders and bringing closure to the family.
